Yesterday I had my second blood test. The phlebotomy lady pretty much closed her eyes and stabbed my arm. Of course no blood came out. So, she pulled out the needle and JAMMED it into my arm again. I yelled. She then asked if she could try the other arm and I said. "Yes, if you don't STAB me like that again." The situation repeated itself and she did not draw blood. She then walked away. I was shocked/mad/hormonal. I suggested that the guy in the cube next to me draw my blood because he did a good job a few days previously. It wasn't easy (my veins hide) but he managed to draw the blood needed. I will bring him chocolate next time... or something. That was was so nice- a little old man.
The doctor called me later to say that the blood work came out great and my HCG levels are raising nicely. Good news!
Today I scheduled my first doctor's appt for September 22nd. I can't wait! By that time, the baby will be about the size of a raspberry.
My pants are already tight and I feel very bloated. I think I will need to buy new pants soon. Already, I know!
Thankfully I haven't had any nausea the past two days. It's been a nice break... I wonder how long it will last. Most coworkers don't know that I'm PG and they keep asking, "are you OK?" They say I look tired or have dark circles under my eyes. I just say I haven't been getting much sleep at night... which is true. I wake up every morning at about 2:00am and don't fall back to sleep for about an hour. Then, no matter what time I go to bed at night, I wake up at 5:15am. Maybe my body is preparing for waking up to feed the baby in 8 months. I'll think positively. :-)
A few months ago I went a week without drinking coffee and felt completely tortured. I wondered if I'd ever get over my "addiction". A few days before I found out I was PG I stopped craving it. I'm so glad. I don't even like thinking about coffee and I hate the smell of it. Whew! Hopefully I won't be drinking it again until my kids have busy schedules and need me to drive them all over the place!

OMG this is so amazing. Especially the bit about driving your kids around when they are older. haha. Congratulations on quitting coffee; you inspire me!
